ESPYS Witness Grandeur

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com)- ESPYs 2010, the annual awards event created and broadcast by American cable television network ESPN to celebrate their legacy as a sports channel where the athletics and the players are given awards for their performances, was held last night at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles, California. The star studded evening saw grandeur, glamor and glitz where the who’s who of sports fraternity and entertainment world walked down the red carpet to witness the award giving ceremony. The show was aired on ESPN at 9 p.m.

ESPYs 2010 was hosted by “Saturday Night Live” host Seth Meyers who entertained his audience till the last. There were various pre taped segments ran featuring Steve Carell, Will Forte, Jon Hamm, Peyton Manning, Jack McBrayer, Seth Meyers, Tracy Morgan, Paul Rudd and Jason Sudeikis. Clint Black made a surprise appearance debuting an original song created just for The ESPYs. The New Orleans Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees took away 4 ESPYs including Best Male Athlete, Best Championship and Best NFL Player. Lindsay Vonn won Best Female Athlete and Best Female U.S. Olympian and Phil Jackson was awarded the Best Coach/Manager for the fourth time.

Other ESPYs included Roger Federer and Walter Ray Williams who won ESPYs for the seventh time for their remarkable performances as the Best Tennis Player and Best Bowler respectively. The Arthur Ashe Courage Award was awarded to the Thomas family for their courage to forgive and Brett Favre gave away the award to Ed Thomas’ wife Jan and sons Aaron and Todd. Denver Nuggets Coach George Karl was presented the Jimmy V ESPY for Perseverance, in honor of the late Jim Valvano and The V Foundation for Cancer Research as he survived prostate cancer. The Best comeback award went to tennis star Kim Clijsters.
