Bryant holds on for a 44-30 win over Fordham

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Bryant sophomore running back Jordan Brown ran for three touchdowns and ran for 122 yards as the Bulldogs held on to win their season opener against Fordham 44-30 on Saturday.

Bryant led 29-9 at halftime, but the Rams pulled to within six points after quarterback Blake Wayne scored on a 4-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.

With 12:49 remaining in the game and the Bulldogs clinging to a 36-30 lead, Brown scored on a 62-yard run to put the game out of reach.

Bryant receiver Jordan Harris scored the game’s first touchdown on a 44-yard throw from quarterback Mike Croce in the opening minutes of the first quarter.

Fordham racked up more than 500 yards of total offense, but the Rams defense allowed 228 yards on the ground and a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown by Bryant running back Isaac Whitworth.
