William & Mary blows out VMI at home 45-0

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — B.W. Webb set the tone early with a 64-yard punt return for a touchdown and William & Mary shutout VMI 45-0.

Webb’s punt return was followed up by a 30-yard field goal from David Miller as the Tribe ended the first quarter with a 10-0 lead.

The Tribe (1-1, 0-1) put up 21 points in the second quarter after two touchdown runs from running back Jonathan Grimes of 1 and 4 yards and a 23-yard touchdown pass from Mike Callahan to Chase Hill.

VMI (1-1) trailed 31-0 at halftime before allowing another 1-yard score from Grimes and a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown by Jerome Couplin.

The William & Mary defense picked off VMI quarterbacks Cameron Jones and Eric Kordenbrock a combined five times as it held the Keydets offense to 126 yards through the air.

Callahan was 12 of 17 for 234 yards and one touchdown.
