Morehead State defeats St. Francis (Pa.) 31-21
MOREHEAD, Ky. — Zach Lewis threw for four touchdowns and 458 yards in Morehead State’s 31-21 win over St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday.
The Eagles (1-1), who fell behind 7-0 on a long kickoff return early, tallied 512 yards of offense in avenging a 31-0 loss to the Red Flash (0-2) last season.
St. Francis’ Justin Mullins returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for his second career touchdown return 15 seconds into the game.
However, after exchanging passing touchdowns, Morehead State scored 21 unanswered points.
Lewis started the scoring run on a 5-yard pass to Adam Slupski early in the second quarter. Lewis then found Jaison Yoshimura for a 39-yard score and Slupski again on an 11-yard TD, putting the Eagles ahead 28-14 with 13:58 left in the third.
John Kelly had 162 yards and two touchdowns on 20-for-34 passing for the Red Flash.
