Legree leads Hampton past North Carolina A&T 35-21
HAMPTON, Va. — David Legree passed for four touchdowns and 206 yards as Hampton pulled away from North Carolina A&T in the second half to win 35-21 on Saturday night.
Legree, who completed 17 of 25, threw for two touchdowns in the third quarter, when the Pirates (2-1, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) scored 21 consecutive points after the Aggies (0-3, 0-2) took their only lead of the game.
Legree’s 21-yard pass to Javaris Brown tied it, and he hit Isiah Thomas for a 9-yarder to put the Pirates ahead to stay, 21-14. A 72-yard run by Antwon Chisholm, who had 11 carries for 114 yards, made it 28-14.
Mike Mayhew, who rushed 22 times for 112 yards, gave the Aggies a 14-7 lead with a 6-yard run on the opening second-half possession. He also had a 41-yard run on the drive.
Justin Ferrell’s 85-yard kickoff return pulled North Carolina A&T into a 7-7 first-half tie.
