William & Mary defeats Old Dominion 21-17
NORFOLK, Va. — Mike Callahan threw his second touchdown pass of the game with 4:45 to play as William & Mary came back to beat Old Dominion 21-17 on Saturday night.
Gareth Hissong’s 4-yard reception from Callahan capped an eight-play, 66-yard drive for the Tribe (2-1). The touchdown came after Old Dominion (1-2) took a 17-14 lead on Jarod Brown’s 20-yard field goal.
Old Dominion, which will join the Colonial Athletic Association next season, was playing its first opponent from the conference. The Monarchs had two chances to retake the lead, but turned the ball over on downs at the William & Mary 38 with 3:03 left, and the Tribe’s B.W. Webb intercepted a pass with 29 seconds left.
Callahan completed 21 of 31 passes for 290 yards and also threw a 55-yard touchdown to Chase Hill.
Thomas DiMarco completed 21 of 40 passes for 186 yards for Old Dominion.
