South Alabama racks up 490 yards of offense to beat Nicholls St. 39-21

South Alabama outduels Nicholls St. 39-21
MOBILE, Ala. — Kendall Houston rushed for 116 yards and Brandon Ross added 115 to lead South Alabama to a 39-21 victory over Nicholls State on Saturday.
Colonels running back Jesse Turner scored on a 33-yard run and a 95-yard touchdown reception to give Nicholls State (0-3) an early 14-7 lead.
After Jaguars quarterback Brennan Sim threw a 47-yard touchdown to Ross, Houston and Santuan McGee added short touchdown runs to give South Alabama (2-0) a 27-14 halftime lead.
Nicholls State quarterback LaQuintin Caston, who finished with 319 yards and two touchdowns, threw a 62-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Andrew Wynn midway through the third quarter to pull the Colonels within six points, 27-21.
A 20-yard touchdown run from Houston followed by a Nicholls State safety and a 28-yard field goal by Jaguars kicker Jordan Means helped South Alabama seal the win.
