Brown paces Tennessee State past Florida A&M 29-18
ATLANTA — Preston Brown rushed for 233 yards and Tennessee State defeated Florida A&M 29-18 on Saturday.
Brown, who had 28 carries, took a handoff on the second play from scrimmage and raced 71 yards to put the Tigers (2-2) ahead for good.
Tennessee State built its lead to 19-0 late in the second quarter after a 15-yard pass from Jeremy Perry to Joseph Hills and field goals of 33 and 32 yards by Jamin Godfrey.
Godfrey also added a 37-yarder late in the third quarter to give Tennessee State a 22-6 lead.
The Tigers dominated possession with 304 of their 413 yards coming on the ground, as they snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Rattlers (2-2) in the Atlanta Football Classic.
Martin Ukpai was 15-for-31 passing for 173 yards and one interception for the Rattlers, as the all-time series between the two teams moved to 25-25-1.
