Saints still deciding on K Hartley after misses
METAIRIE, La. — Saints coach Sean Payton says he has not decided whether to bring in other kickers to compete with the struggling Garrett Hartley in practice this week.
Hartley missed a 29-yard field goal that would have beaten the Falcons in overtime Sunday, hooking the ball left.
It was Hartley’s third miss in seven attempts. His winner in the final seconds against San Francisco was tipped, too.
Payton says he doesn’t want to make a rash decision, adding that New Orleans’ problems went beyond Hartley’s miss.
Atlanta’s Matt Bryant made a 46-yarder after Hartley’s hook, giving the Falcons a 27-24 win and making both teams 2-1.
The Falcons rushed for 202 yards, converted 9 of 18 third downs and limited New Orleans to 43 yards rushing.
