Added security at stadium for India-Pakistan hockey match

NEW DELHI - Added security cover is being provided at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here Sunday ahead of a key Commonwealth Games hockey match between India and Pakistan for which a number of VIPs are expected, a Delhi Police official said.

“With India playing against Pakistan, it will be a crucial match with all the tickets being sold out. It being a weekend we are expecting a packed stadium, so security has been tightened and strict vigil will be kept,” a senior police official said.

The match will begin at 7 p.m. at the stadium.

He said that many ministers and embassy officials are expected to come to see the game. “So added security arrangements are being made,” the officer added.

Traffic will also be restricted along the stadium.
