Pakistani journalists commend Australia’s hockey win

NEW DELHI - As India crashed 0-8 to Australia in the Commonwealth Games hockey final Thursday, Pakistani journalists rejoiced at the victory saying the Aussies did to India what the latter did to Pakistan.
“Aussies are known for speed…they played pretty fast game. India was nowhere near it. I think Indian players were under lot of pressure and in the end they gave up,” Pakistan-based AAJ TV reporter, Abbas Shabbir, told IANS.
Abbas, who hails from Islamabad, said India suffered from Australia the same way Pakistan were defeated in the quarter-finals. India defeated Pakistan 7-4 in the quarter-final match.
“Australia played a well coordinated match, while India got many opportunities but failed to convert those into goal,” said Rizawal Ali, reporter of Associated Press.
It was Australia’s fourth gold medal in a row since the introduction of hockey at the Games in 1998 while for India it was their first podium finish in three attempts following a fourth in 1998 and sixth in 2006.
