LONDON - Manager Arsene Wenger reckons Theo Walcott is ready to fill the boots of Thierry Henry by becoming an Arsenal goalscoring legend.
England star Walcott is approaching his fifth anniversary at the club after signing as a 16-year-old from Southampton.
He has had problems with form and fitness but Wenger believes this is the season Walcott will follow Henry’s route from tricky winger to outstanding central striker.
Walcott, 21, has flourished this campaign with six goals, including a superb double at Newcastle in the Carling Cup a week ago.
Wenger said: “Theo is very, very close to playing that striker role. He can be a prolific striker. The thing is with you in England, you are very impatient.” (ANI)
