KOLKATA - Having drawn flak for Mohun Bagan’s lacklustre performance during the ongoing season, the club’s chief soccer coach Stanley Rosario resigned Monday.

“As Mohun Bagan is a formidable club, I want it to bounce back… At this point of time, in the greater interest of the team and the club, I step down from my post as chief coach,” Rosario said in a letter to club general secretary Anjan Mitra.

His resignation came a day after Mohun Bagan lost to Churchill Brothers 0-2 at Margoa in the I-League.

During Rosario’s stint that began in June, Mohun Bagan have failed to win any tournament this season. The club finished runners up in the Federation Cup and has also failed to find its bearings in the ongoing I-League.

Rosario, however, blamed poor decisions by the referees and injury blues for the club’s below par performance.
