MELBOURNE - World No.3 Kim Clijsters moved into the final of the Australian Open on Thursday with a facile straight-sets win over World No.2 Vera Zvonareva.

Clijsters finished off the Russian 6-3, 6-3 in an hour and 13 minutes at Melbourne Park, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Zvonareva’s big match temperament has been questioned in the past and her fragility showed on the key points, loose shots and fluffed volleys frequently letting her down.

The second set followed a similar pattern, Clijsters chasing Zvonareva all over Rod Laver Arena.

The former World No.1 completed an easy victory with a delicate drop volley.

The 27-year-old will now face China’s Li Na in Saturday’s final.

Earlier in the day, World No.9 Li Na had shocked World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki in the other semi-final to become the first Asian woman to reach a Grand Slam final.

Clijsters will be chasing her fourth major title and her first Australian crown. (ANI)
