BRISBANE - Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson insists that the spirit shown in flood-affected Queensland will lift the team in Sunday’s fifth ODI against England.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian team visited some of the state’s worst hit areas around Goodna west of Brisbane on Friday, and was touched by what they saw.

“Days like this bring a smile to our faces too, so hopefully we can get a bit of confidence out of this and bring it into the game,” Johnson said.

“Obviously we have a big game coming up and we want to show our support there too,” he added.

The 29-year-old, who will return to the squad, further said that he is looking forward for some match experience ahead of the World Cup.

“It was hard sitting back on Australia Day and not being able to play. I want to get out there and play as much cricket as I can before the World Cup,” Johnson said.

“I feel I haven’t been at my best, but I am not too far away, you’re luck can change quickly,” he added.

Australia currently leads the seven-match series 3-1. (ANI)
