LONDON - Liverpool has reportedly snubbed Chelsea’s new offer of 42.5 million pounds plus striker Daniel Sturridge for ace footballer Fernando Torres.

Rejecting the new offer, Liverpool also threatened to report Chelsea to the Premier League for allegedly “tapping up” the Spanish striker.

They claim Chelsea went to Torres and his agents to set up a deal before making their 40 million pound bid. Yesterday’s high drama also saw Liverpool snub a new offer of 42.5 million pounds plus hitman Daniel Sturridge.

A senior Liverpool source said: “It’s clear Fernando has had his head turned and Chelsea has ‘previous’ record for that sort of thing, don’t they? Ashley Cole springs to mind and it looks like they’ve been at it again here.”

The Sun reports Chelsea has increased their offer for Torres by two-and-half million pounds yesterday and threw Sturridge into the mix.

Chelsea intends to keep up the pressure, with a club insider saying: “Liverpool don’t want to sell but a lot depends on the player’s wishes.”

Liverpool has worked tirelessly to persuade Torres to stay since Chelsea’s initial 40 million pounds bid. (ANI)
