Duleep Trophy: South Zone pile up 477 runs against North Zone

VISHAKHAPATNAM - Subramaniam Badrinath’s century helped South Zone amass 477 in their first innings against North Zone in the Duleep Trophy final here Friday.

North Zone were 50/1 in the second innings and trail by 90 runs at the close of third day’s play.

Nitin Saini (21) and Mandeep Singh (9) were batting after the fall of Shikhar Dhawan (19). The visitors will be looking to bounce back on the fourth day.

Badrinath, who started from last night’s unbeaten 97, got run out on 136 with 374/5 on board.

The lower-middle order comprising Bodapati Sumanth (48) and Amit Verma (32) came good to take the total beyond 450 that gave South Zone a crucial 140-run lead in the summit clash.

Medium pacers Joginder Sharma and Sumit Narwal took three wickets each for North Zone.
