Zardari, Gilani felicitate Pak cricket team for series victory against New Zealand

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have congratulated the national cricket team on winning the one-day series against New Zealand.
Zardari, who is also the chief patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), lauded the squad’s efforts and hard work that helped Pakistan clinch a series victory after a gap of 16 years in New Zealand.
He also expressed the hope that the national cricket team would perform its best in the upcoming World Cup, The Nation reported.
Gilani also congratulated the Pakistan team on winning the fifth one-day international match against New Zealand, thus winning the series.
In his felicitation message to captain Shahid Afridi, the PM appreciated the team’s hard work and quality performance, and hoped that they would play the World Cup 2011 with the same zeal and spirit.
On Thursday, Pakistan opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad’s maiden century inspired the visitors to a 41-run win over New Zealand in the fifth ODI played in Hamilton.akistan now has an unassailable lead of 3-1 in the six-match series with a game to spare. (ANI)
