Reds’s RHP Volquez to come off DL, start Monday
MILWAUKEE — The Cincinnati Reds will activate right-hander Edinson Volquez from the disabled list and start him on Monday in the opener of a four-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Reds manager Dusty Baker announced the move before Cincinnati’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
Volquez (4-2, 4.25 ERA) will be activated from the 15-day disabled list to make his ninth start of the season. He left a game against San Diego on May 16 with mild spasms in his back and went on the DL on May 22.
The Reds went 4-4 in his previous eight starts. Opponents were hitting just .185 against him, the best mark in the National League.
A corresponding roster move will be made before the night game against the Cardinals.
