Redskins become lottery team, unveil scratch-off

ASHBURN, Va. — The Washington Redskins are a lottery team, albeit one with no pingpong balls to worry about.

The Redskins and the Virginia Lottery on Monday unveiled a $20 scratch-off ticket featuring the team’s logo, taking advantage of a new NFL rule that allows teams to sign licensing deals with state-sponsored lotteries.

The Redskins went all out for the announcement, displaying their three Super Bowl trophies in a news conference setting usually reserved for big player signings.

The ticket has a top prize of $1 million, and second-chance prizes include season tickets for 20 years and a chance to travel with the team to an away game against the Dallas Cowboys. The tickets go on sale Aug. 3, shortly after the Redskins open training camp.
