Blue Jays recall Cecil for Saturday start
WASHINGTON — The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled Brett Cecil from Triple-A Las Vegas and the left-hander is scheduled to start Saturday night against the Washington Nationals.
The 22-year-old Cecil was 2-1 with a 4.38 ERA in four starts earlier this season for Toronto. He was optioned to Las Vegas on May 22 and went 1-2 with a 4.26 ERA in five starts at Triple-A.
He takes the spot in the rotation vacated when right-hander Roy Halladay was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 18, retroactive to June 13, with a right groin injury.
