O’Sullivan goes back to Salt Lake
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Los Angeles Angels have optioned right-hander Sean O’Sullivan to Triple-A Salt Lake and called up outfielder Terry Evans.
O’Sullivan was recalled from the minors to pitch Monday against Kansas City, but had that start pushed back by rain. The rookie improved to 3-0 in the second game of a doubleheader against the Royals on Tuesday, allowing two runs and six hits over 5 2-3 innings in a 10-2 win before being sent back to Salt Lake.
The Angels won’t need a fifth starter for another two weeks, so they decided to bring up Evans to give them another outfielder with Juan Rivera nursing a sore hamstring.
Evans was hitting .290 with 19 homers and 66 RBIs in 93 games at Salt Lake.
