PHOENIX — Miguel Montero doubled in the go-ahead run in a five-run seventh and pinch-hitter Chad Tracy capped the inning with a three-run home run, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to an 11-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night.

The Diamondbacks’ bullpen pitched four scoreless innings and retired all 12 batters it faced after Dan Haren had an off night, giving up four runs in five innings. It was the National League ERA leader’s shortest outing of the season and only the second in which he gave up more than three runs.

Mark Reynolds doubled to left field with one out in the seventh off reliever Evan Meek (1-1) and Montero followed with a double to right-center for a 5-4 lead.

Josh Whitesell greeted reliever John Grabow with a run-scoring single, and after Augie Ojeda walked, Tracy hit a 2-0 pitch into the right field seats for his sixth homer of the season.

Montero is hitting .359 with six doubles, five home runs and 13 RBIs in July, leading major league catchers in batting average, homers and slugging percentage in that span. Reynolds is hitting .481 since the All-Star break.

Justin Upton hit a two-run homer, his 17th of the season, in the eighth inning.

Juan Gutiererz (3-2), the third of four Arizona relievers, won for the second time in three days after pitching a 1-2-3 seventh inning.

Haren, who entered with a major league-leading 1.96 ERA, still leads the NL with a 2.14 ERA, but Kansas City’s Zack Greinke took over the major league lead at 2.08.

The Pirates (42-53) scored all their runs off Haren with two outs in the fifth inning for a 4-1 lead.

Garret Jones hit a two-out, two-run double to left before Ryan Doumit hit a 3-2 pitch into the right-field seats for his fifth homer of the season. Jones has three hits in each of his last two games, and has eight hits in his last four games.

The D-backs (41-55) tied the game in their half of the fifth. Augie Ojeda singled before scoring on a one-out triple by Stephen Drew, who is 9 for 17 since being moved to the leadoff spot after second baseman Felipe Lopez was traded to Milwaukee on Sunday.

Gerardo Parra followed with his fourth homer of the season to tie it at 4.

Drew’s triple was his sixth of the season as the D-backs took over the NL lead with 28 triples, one more than Colorado.

NOTES: Pittsburgh recalled first baseman Steve Pearce from Triple-A Indianapolis before Thursday’s game to fill the roster spot opened when first baseman Adam LaRoche was traded to Boston on Wednesday. Pearce, 26, is expected to see regular duty, at least in the short term, manager John Russell said. Pearce is in his second stint with the Pirates this season after going 1 for 12 (.083) with a double in nine games from June 21-July 8. Pearce was hitting .287 with 18 doubles, 13 home runs and 54 RBIs in 76 games at Indianapolis. … The Chase Field roof was closed Thursday when the temperature at 6:40 p.m. start time was 103 degrees. It was 82 degrees inside. … Pirates third base coach Tony Beasley missed the game while tending to a family matter and was replaced by roving minor league instructor Rich Donnelly.
