Beltre comes back for Seattle
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Seattle Mariners third baseman Adrian Beltre is back in the lineup after a five-week absence.
The Mariners activated Beltre from the disabled list Tuesday and designated infielder Chris Woodward for assignment.
Beltre had surgery June 30 to remove a bone spur from his left shoulder. He was expected to be out six to eight weeks but recovered quickly. He was batting fifth against Kansas City on Tuesday night.
Beltre had only five home runs and 31 RBIs in his first 289 at-bats this season. He has hit at least 20 homers in six of the past seven seasons.
