Milwaukee cops investigate basketball player shot
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are investigating the shooting of a European league basketball player who was shot after leaving a gas station.
Officials say 29-year-old Lavelle Felton played for Paderborn last season in Germany’s top league, Bundesliga. Milwaukee police would not confirm the shooting victim’s identity Thursday, but said a 29-year-old was shot in the head driving away from a gas station early Wednesday morning.
Felton was listed in critical condition Thursday at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital near Milwaukee. A hospital official declined to release his condition Friday.
Felton was a guard and played in 34 games, averaging 10.4 points and 2.4 assists per game as he helped the club reach the Bundesliga playoffs.
