Fla. State says it has no issues with Oklahoma

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State officials say they have no issues with Oklahoma.

The school said Friday it contacted Oklahoma’s compliance office earlier this year about the eligibility of a former semipro player, Mike Balogun, who was playing linebacker for the Sooners.

Florida State compliance director Brian Battle said the inquiry was a fact-finding call related to a similar eligibility case involving former Seminole receiver Corey Surrency.

Surrency, who also played in a semipro football league beyond his 21st birthday, was denied a second year of eligibility by the NCAA following Florida State’s appeal in April.

Florida State and Oklahoma can resolve any differences on Sept. 11, 2010 when they play at Norman, Okla.
