Jets claim P Pakulak off waivers, cut 2 others

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets have claimed punter Glenn Pakulak off waivers from New Orleans, and waived punter Ken Parrish and linebacker Josh Mauga.

Pakulak — (Pack-AH-lack) — averaged 47.7 yards per punt in the last eight games of the season for the Saints before being waived on Aug. 17. He has had brief stints with several other NFL teams and has played in NFL Europe.

The moves Friday give the Jets two punters with Pakulak and Reggie Hodges. Coach Rex Ryan has said he is unhappy with the job Hodges and Parrish were doing this summer.

“The punter should be the least of our worries,” Ryan said Thursday.

Parrish and Mauga were signed by the Jets on Aug. 16.
