Alabama State holds off Concordia 38-33 as Mitchell throws for 242 yards, 4 TDs

Alabama State beats Concordia 38-33
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Chris Mitchell passed for 242 yards and four touchdowns, leading Alabama State to a 38-33 win over Concordia on Saturday night.
Mitchell finished 13 of 28 passing with two interceptions for the Hornets. Nicholas Andrews caught five balls for 136 yards and two touchdowns and Rahmod Traylor rushed for 101 yards.
Trailing 6-0 midway through the first quarter, Mitchell’s 10-yard TD pass to Andrews put the Hornets ahead 7-6. Alabama State scored the next 24 points.
Mitchell connected with Darius Mathis on TD passes of 13 and 12 yards in the second. Jake King kicked a 45-yard field goal and Adrian Hardy’s 18-yard interception return capped the scoring spree for a 31-6 Alabama State lead early in the third.
Andrews and Mitchell connected again on a 72-yard TD pass with 2 minutes left in the third before Concordia scored late, but it wasn’t enough.
