MOREHEAD, Ky. — Winston Bodrick rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown and Desmond Cox added 72 yards and a score as Morehead State routed Southern Virginia 61-10 Saturday night.
Morehead State scored 60 points for the first time since the 2000 season and led 40-3 at halftime in the second meeting between the schools. The Eagles had 490 yards total offense in their season opener, including 243 yards rushing on 38 carries.
Quarterbacks Jared Phillips, Evan Sawyer and J.D. Tanner were 17-for-30 with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Sawyer ran 15 yards for a score in the first quarter and threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jerrod Pendleton. Pendleton also scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter.
Sam Trulock was 9 of 29 for 136 yards and two interceptions for the Knights (0-2), an NAIA school that had just 16 yards rushing on 30 carries.
