Bryant improves to 6-0 when opening at home after 19-10 win over Southern Connecticut

Bryant defeats Southern Connecticut 19-10

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Jerell Smith rushed for 121 yards on 23 carries and Bryant defeated Southern Connecticut 19-10 on Saturday.

Bryant, in its second year in Division I Football Championship Subdivision, improved to 6-0 when opening at home.

Bulldogs quarterback Mike Croce was 15-for-22 for 169 yards and two touchdowns.

Bryant had 348 yards of total offense as Khalel Pritchard finished with 53 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Three players had more than 30 receiving yards for the Bulldogs as Matt Tracey had 39 yards and a touchdown, Matthew Hunt caught four passes for 36 yards and Michael Canfora had three catches for 35 yards.

Jerome Freeman led Division II Southern Connecticut’s rushing attack with 75 yards.

Chris Roberts went 17 of 29 for 159 yards and a touchdown for the Owls(0-2).
