Cent. Connecticut St. beats Lehigh 28-21
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Hunter Wanket threw two touchdown passes and the Central Connecticut State defense held Lehigh scoreless in the final quarter to seal its 28-21 win on Saturday.
Wanket finished 15 of 19 passing for 169 yards with an interception, and James Mallory added 137 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils more than doubled the Mountain Hawks’ total yardage (405-184) but had to overcome three fumbles.
With the game tied at 14 coming out of halftime, the Blue Devils took a 21-14 lead on Eric Richardson’s 2-yard touchdown run with 8:49 left in the third quarter. Lehigh tied the game less than a minute later when J.B. Clark connected with Jake Drwal on a 58-yard TD pass.
Wanket put the Blue Devils ahead for good with 1:26 left in the third, hitting Josue Paul on a 40-yard pass for what would be the game’s final score.
