Campbell defeats Methodist 48-28
BUIES CREEK, N.C. — Matt Vollono threw for 219 yards and four touchdowns to lead Campbell to a season-opening 48-28 victory over Methodist on Saturday.
Vollono was 10 of 13 with an interception in rallying the Camels, who had 544 yards of offense, from deficits of 21-7 and 28-20.
This is Campbell’s second year of football after not having a program for 58 years. The Camels went 1-10 last year.
CJ Oates led Campbell with 95 yards on 14 carries, Carl Smith rushed for 67 yards and a score on 13 carries and Rashaun Brown had 61 yards on 13 carries.
Campbell’s Harrison Jordan caught three passes for 82 yards and two touchdowns and Carl Blain caught an 85-yard touchdown pass.
Methodist’s Erik Teague threw for 173 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 37 yards and three scores.
Reggie Scales rushed for 85 yards on seven carries for Methodist.
