White, Holt lead Austin Peay in 34-23 win
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Ryan White ran for 210 yards and Terrence Holt added 152 yards on the ground and two touchdowns to lead Austin Peay to a 34-23 on Saturday night.
It was the first time two Austin Peay rushers reached 100 or more rushing yards in the same game since Chris Fletcher and Quea Williams did so with 153 and 114 yards, respectively, in 2005. White’s 200-yard game was the first by an Austin Peay running back since Jay Bailey gained 201 yards on the ground in 2002.
Holt, who finished with 15 carries, scored on a 16-yard touchdown in the second quarter to give Austin Peay a 17-3 lead. Newberry cut the lead 20-17 in the third on an 8-yard touchdown run by Gerald Legree, who also had a 10-yard rushing score in the first half.
But Holt answered with a 75-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give Austin Peay enough cushion to pull away.
