Montana State beats Dixie State 23-20

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Senior quarterback Mark Iddins passed for 305 yards and two touchdowns, and senior tailback Aaron Mason ran for 112 yards as Montana State held off Dixie State 23-20 on Saturday afternoon.

Junior tight end Kyle Begger’s 32-yard touchdown reception from Iddins with 2:41 to play in the third quarter gave MSU (1-1) the lead for good at 20-14. Sophomore kicker Jason Cunningham added his second field goal, a 35-yarder, with 5:50 to play in the game to provide the margin of victory.

The Bobcats survived 417 yards and three touchdown passes from Dixie State senior quarterback Judd Thompson, a transfer from Utah State. Thompson’s 12-yard TD pass to quarterback-turned-receiver Skyler Ence gave the Red Storm a 14-13 lead with 4:37 remaining in the third quarter.
