Report: MLB won’t punish A-Rod over steroid use
NEW YORK — Major League Baseball will not punish Alex Rodriguez after completing its investigation into whether he lied about his use of performance-enhancing drugs, the New York Times reported Saturday.
Investigators reached out to several of the Yankees third baseman’s associates in May to examine whether he used drugs for a longer period than he has acknowledged.
Rodriguez admitted in February to using steroids while with the Texas Rangers from 2001-03, but insisted he stopped before he was traded to the Yankees in February 2004.
A team spokesman told The Associated Press the Yankees had no comment.
