Weber State tops Idaho State 44-17
OGDEN, Utah — Cameron Higgins threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns as Weber State defeated Idaho State 44-17 in the Big Sky Conference opener for both teams on Saturday night.
Higgins completed 25 of 31 passes for the Wildcats (1-2, 1-0), who have won 23 of their last 25 games against Idaho State.
Trevyn Smith gained 177 yards on 28 carries for Weber State, including a 20-yard touchdown run to give Weber State a 31-14 lead late in the third quarter. He added a 2-yard scoring dive in the fourth quarter.
Kyle Blum was 19 of 39 for 234 yards for Idaho State (0-3, 0-1). He threw touchdown passes to Jaron Taylor and Bryant Ward on the Bengals first two drives to give them a 14-7 lead. But Beau Hadley’s interception of a Blum pass on Idaho State’s next drive set up a Higgins TD pass to Tim Toone.
