James Madison pulls away from Liberty 24-10
LYNCHBURG, Va. — Corwin Acker ran for two touchdowns and James Madison broke a fourth-quarter tie to beat Liberty 24-10 on Saturday night.
With the game tied 10-10 in the fourth quarter, Acker scored on runs of 65 and 13 yards to help the Dukes (2-1) pull away. Jamal Sullivan added 93 yards rushing and scored on a 5-yard run in the second quarter as James Madison built a 10-7 lead.
The Dukes rushed for 301 yards and passed only eight times for 47 yards with two interceptions.
The quarterback tandem of Drew Dudzik and Justin Thorpe gave the Dukes the No. 1 passing efficiency rating in the country after the first two games. Each quarterback was intercepted once Saturday.
Liberty (2-2) scored its only touchdown on a 1-yard run by Tommy Beecher. The Dukes intercepted Beecher twice and recovered a fumble.
