Dayton routs Morehead State 30-15
MOREHEAD, Ky. — Steve Valentino threw two touchdown passes and Dayton beat Morehead State 30-15 in a Pioneer League game on Saturday.
The Flyers (3-1, 1-0) scored 30 unanswered points after falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter.
Valentino was 14-for-20 with 242 yards. He had an 8-yard touchdown pass to Luke Bellman in the second quarter and a 66-yarder to Justin Watkins in the third quarter. Andrew Zapinski and Brian Mack each scored on 1-yard touchdown runs for the Flyers, who were held to 46 yards on the ground in 33 attempts.
Morehead State (2-3, 0-2) did not fare much better with 76 yards rushing, including a 27-yard touchdown by Jared Phillips for a 7-0 lead. The Eagles managed only 153 total yards and eight first downs. The Eagles’ only other score came on a 90-yard fumble return by J.D. Cecil with 1:16 to play in the game.
