NMSU’s Colston suspended after felony charge
LAS CRUCES, N.M. — New Mexico State running back Marquell Colston has been suspended after being charged with battery against a household member, a third-degree felony, after a fight with his live-in girlfriend.
Colston was jailed on $10,000 bond.
He cannot participate in team activities while the matter is reviewed by a school misconduct committee.
According to a police report, Colston left the couple’s apartment after an argument Sunday and returned Monday evening smelling of alcohol. Police said Colston hit his girlfriend several times in the face, kicked her and pushed her against a wall.
The police report also says Colston pushed the couple’s daughter to the floor.
