Montana downs Eastern Washington 41-34
MISSOULA, Mont. — Chase Reynolds plunged into the end zone from 1 yard out with 1:18 to play Saturday to lift Montana to a 41-34 victory over Eastern Washington.
Reynolds’ second touchdown of the day capped a wild second half that saw the Grizzlies and Eagles score 21 points apiece.
Montana improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Big Sky Conference, while Eastern Washington fell to 4-3 and 3-2.
Montana started the second-half flurry with an 18-yard scoring pass from Andrew Selle to Ty Palmer to go up 27-13.
Then Eastern Washington’s Matt Nichols connected with Ashton Gant on a 14-yard touchdown pass and with Aaron Boyce on a 50-yard TD pass to knot the score at 27-27.
Marc Mariani put Montana back on top with an 80-yard punt return. Taiwan Jones tied it at 34-34 on a 1-yard run with 4:58 left in the game.
Montana marched back down the field and clinched the win on Reynolds’ 1-yard run.
