Eagles, Raiders lose key players

OAKLAND, Calif. — Philadelphia left tackle Jason Peters is among three Eagles scheduled for MRI exams on Monday following injuries during Sunday’s 13-9 loss at Oakland.

Peters hurt his left knee midway through the first quarter and didn’t return. Coach Andy Reid called Peters’ injury a sprained knee, but it was thought to be worse. Defensive end Victor Abiamiri sprained a knee late in the game and linebacker Omar Gaither sprained a foot, Reid said.

Losing Peters was a big blow — and quarterback Donovan McNabb was sacked six times.

Peters limped to the sideline with assistance at the 7:20 mark after he blocked Oakland defensive tackle Tommy Kelly and another player rolled up his leg.

He was taken to the locker room for observation on his left knee and was replaced by King Dunlap. X-rays were negative on Peters’ knee.

Raiders All-Pro cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha was poked in the eye, later briefly returned and then left the game again with vision trouble.

“It’s killing me right now,” Asomugha said. “They kept putting numbing drops in, but that would go away after about five minutes. The cornea was damaged on the third play of the game. I got hit in the eye by DeSean (Jackson), so we’ll check it out tomorrow.”

Asomugha was lying down on a table behind the bench for about 20 minutes while being examined by several members of the medical staff. Asomugha was back on the field midway through the second quarter but had a tough time.

“I came back in because I was trying to go with it. We had the shield on because the light was killing my eye, so I went back in,” he said. “I was on the field but I couldn’t see because it was really blurry. So, that was a waste of time, so I came back out.”

He watched as much of the game as he could.

“I was trying to make out what was going on, then it got better, so I was able to see it,” he said.
