Albany beats Monmouth 35-10

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. — Both Vinny Esposito and Andrew Smith threw for one touchdown and ran for one, leading Albany (N.Y.) to a 35-10 win over Monmouth (N.J.) on Saturday.

Esposito was 12-for-19 for 117 yards with an interception for the Great Danes (6-2, 5-0 Northeast Conference), who have won six straight games since dropping their first two of the season. Esposito also added 20 yards rushing.

Smith rushed for 36 yards and threw one pass, a 31-yard touchdown to Tim Bush. Bush finished with 114 yards receiving on seven catches.

After Monmouth (3-4, 2-2) took a 3-0 lead less than 3 minutes into the second quarter, Albany scored four straight touchdowns to take a 28-3 lead with just less than 10 minutes left in the third.

Esposito threw a 5-yard touchdown to John Lullen to start the run, and Smith’s 1-yard score and his connection with Bush sealed Albany’s game-changing spree.
