Delaware State defeats Howard 30-20
DOVER, Del. — Jaashawn Jones ran for two touchdowns and Delaware State defeated Howard 30-20 on Saturday.
Jones ran for 130 yards on 23 carries and the Hornets (4-7, 3-5 Mid-American Conference) outgained the Bison 410-187.
Delaware State trailed 14-10 early in the second half before scoring two touchdowns and kicking two field goals.
Riley Flickinger kicked a 20-yard field goal with 9:22 left in the third and a 29-yarder with 14:52 left in the game.
Anthony Glaud put the Hornets up for good on a 5-yard TD run for a 20-14 lead with 5:06 left in the third quarter.
Jones capped the Hornets’ scoring on a 1-yard run with 9:21 remaining for a 30-14 lead.
Glaud was 23 of 31 with 315 yards and Darius Jackson caught 11 passes for 123 yards.
Floyd Haigler was 14 of 26 for 158 yards and a touchdown as Howard (2-9, 0-8) lost its seventh straight.
