James Madison pounds Towson 43-12
HARRISONBURG, Va. — Justin Thorpe threw three touchdown passes to lead James Madison to a 43-12 win over Towson on Saturday in the season finale for both teams.
Thorpe was 14-for-21 with 259 yards and three interceptions for the Dukes (6-5, 4-4 Colonial Athletic Conference). Scott Noble rushed for 106 yards on 23 carries.
The Dukes went up 17-0 in the opening quarter thanks in part to Thorpe’s 52-yard TD pass to Rockeed McCarter and Arthur Moats’ 68-yard fumble return for a score. James Madison made it 26-6 just before halftime on Corwin Acker’s 36-yard touchdown run.
Thorpe connected with Bosco Williams from 31 yards out for a 33-6 Dukes lead early in the third, and got their final margin as Thorpe threw a 65-yard TD to Kerby Long with 4:33 left.
Tremayne Dameron rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries for the Tigers (2-9, 1-7).
