Brian Kelly says Irish job a ‘dream’
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — New Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says his job is a dream come true and the restoration of the Fighting Irish is a challenge he accepts.
Kelly made the comments Friday at his first news conference. The former Cincinnati coach has signed a five-year deal.
Kelly says he was eager to accept the challenges of the job both academically and on the field. He added: “We’ve got challenges, but we’ll go to work on those right away.”
Athletic director Jack Swarbrick said Kelly was the first candidate he spoke to and the only one he offered the job to.
Kelly met with his players for 25 minutes before meeting with the media.Linebacker Brian Smith tweeted that he can’t wait to work with his new coach.
