Ankle injury keeps LB Harris out of Jets practice
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Linebacker David Harris is not practicing for the New York Jets while he recovers from a sprained right ankle.
Coach Rex Ryan anticipated Harris wouldn’t practice Tuesday after saying he was concerned about Harris’ availability for the wild-card game at Cincinnati on Saturday. Harris is the Jets’ leading tackler and it would be a huge loss to the NFL’s top-ranked defense if he can’t play.
Harris injured the ankle during the regular-season finale against Cincinnati.
Meanwhile, Harris’ replacement, Ryan Fowler, is recovering from a head injury. He was on the field during the half-hour the media are allowed to watch, but was wearing a red no-contact jersey.
Also, safety James Ihedigbo left practice after injuring his left arm during a special teams drill.
