Iowa RB Jeff Brinson leaves Hawkeyes
IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa running back Jeff Brinson has decided to leave the Hawkeyes and transfer to a school closer to home.
Brinson, a highly touted recruit from St. Petersburg, Fla., redshirted in 2008 and was limited to just one carry last season because of a foot injury. He would have been one of four sophomore backs on Iowa’s roster in 2010.
Freshmen Adam Robinson and Brandon Wegher split carries in 2009. The pair rushed for 1,475 yards and 13 touchdowns as Iowa finished 11-2 and ranked No. 7 in the final Top 25 poll.
The Hawkeyes will also return Jewel Hampton, who rushed for seven TDs in 2008 but redshirted last season because of a knee injury.
