MELBOURNE - Samantha Stosur, who is on the road to becoming first Australian singles titleholder at Roland Garros in 37 years after she beat Justin Henin, is all set to take the fight up to world No.1 Serena Williams in tonight’s French Open quarterfinal.

Stosur’s mentor, Dave Taylor, said she must maintain her aggression against the world No.1 with the American trying to progress beyond the quarterfinals in Paris for the first time since 2003.

“You have to live and die by the sword a little bit and you are going to make some errors but as long as your winner-to-error count is good you will still win matches,” the AAP quoted Taylor, as saying.

Taylor said conquering the 12-time major winner Williams would be as monumental for Stosur as her triumph over Henin.

“You are playing one of the legends of the game. She knows how to win at Roland Garros and it is going to be as big a win as beating Henin if Sam gets up.

“Look, she has beaten Serena in a WTA event but a grand slam event is whole other level, Serena in a grand slam is a whole new level on top of that,” Taylor said.

“It is another massive mountain to climb but I think she can do it but she has to do everything right again,” he added.

Williams has a 3-1-career record against Stosur with the Queenslander’s win coming at the WTA event at Stanford in July last year. (ANI)
