Uruguay’s Forlan wins Man of the Match award against Ghana

JOHANNESBURG - Uruguay’s Diego Forlan won the FIFA Man of the Match award in Friday’s quarter-final match against Ghana after scoring with a superb free-kick to lock the game at 1-1 and then converting from the spot during a dramatic penalty shootout.
The Atletico Madrid forward was a constant threat to Ghana’s defence. His third goal of the tournament came in the 55th minute, when he equalized Ghana’s goal by curling a free-kick beyond the reach of Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson.
“The way we worked together, the fact we are in the last four in the World Cup, it is unbelievable,” Forlan said after Uruguay’s victory in Johannesburg.
