TUSCALOOSA (GaeaTimes.com)- On Saturday night defending champion Alabama State University football team took the field against Penn State University team at the Bryant-Denny Stadium in front of a crowd of 101,821. The defending champions emerged with some strong offensive play and were able to mark a 24-3 victory over the Penn State University team that struggled to keep up pace with the impressive speed of the Alabama State University team. While at the end of the first half Penn State was trailing behind by 17 points with score boards reading 17-0, it only managed 3 points in the fourth quarter of the game to save itself from humiliation.
Although the Alabama State University team had its Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram out of the field along with lineman Marcell Dareus, it seemed to have hardly any effect on the team’s motivation and play as running back Trent Richardson who replaced Mark Ingram came up with some great play. The defending champions went for an offense play with five wide receivers who the running back area was tackled well by Trent Richardson who went for an impressive 144 yards run on 22 carries leading his team to success.
The Penn State University team though tried its best it could hardly beat the young defense of the Alabama State University football team and was seen trailing a 7-0 lead put forward by its opponent. Even in the third quarter of the game Penn State struggled to make a mark and emerged to score its 3 points during the last few minutes of the game. After a 14-9 loss to Michigan State University team in 2007, it was for the first time that Penn State University team was held without a touchdown.
